Free Birth Chart Calculator
Enter your birth date, time and place, and this free birth chart calculator draws your natal chart in seconds. You get the chart wheel, the sign and house of every planet, your Ascendant, and the aspects between your planets.
A birth chart is a map of the sky at the moment you were born. Use it to see your Sun, Moon and Rising signs, find which area of life each planet touches, and understand how your placements work together. No signup, no email, and no payment.
Good to know: your birth time matters. The Rising sign and the houses change roughly every two hours, so the closer your time is to the minute, the more accurate your chart.
What Is a Birth Chart?
A birth chart, also called a natal chart, is a map of where the Sun, Moon and planets stood in the sky at the exact time and place you were born. Astrologers read this astrological birth chart as a picture of your character, motivations and strengths. It is the starting point of almost every branch of astrology, from compatibility to yearly forecasts. No two charts are the same, because the sky changes every minute and your birthplace changes the angles. Two people born on the same day can have different Rising signs and houses.
A birth chart in astrology is built from three layers:
- Planets show what energy is at work: the Moon for emotions, Venus for love, Mars for drive, and so on.
- Signs show how that energy is expressed: boldly in Aries, patiently in Taurus, curiously in Gemini.
- Houses show where it happens in life: home, money, work, relationships, health.
The chart wheel is a circle of 360° split into 12 signs of 30° each. The planets are placed around it by their position at birth, and the wheel is divided into 12 houses starting from the Ascendant, the sign rising on the eastern horizon when you were born.

What Is a Natal Chart? Birth Chart vs Astrology Chart
They describe the same thing, and in natal chart astrology the two terms are used interchangeably. “Natal” simply means “relating to birth”. “Astrology chart” is the general term and can also mean a chart for another moment, such as a transit or return chart. This calculator shows your natal birth chart.
How to Use the Birth Chart Calculator
Use this astrology birth chart calculator to get your birth chart from your date of birth, time and place in three steps:
- Enter your birth date: Type the month, day and four-digit year.
- Enter your birth time: Use the local clock time you were born, not UTC. Add the exact minute if you know it.
- Choose your birth city: Pick it from the list so the calculator uses the right latitude, longitude and time zone, including daylight saving time for that date.
Then press the button to create your birth chart online. Your full birth chart, an astrology chart for your birth date, appears on the same page.
Where to Find Your Birth Time
- Your birth certificate, which often lists the time
- Hospital or baptism records
- A parent or relative who was there, ideally someone who wrote it down
If different sources disagree by a few minutes, use the one closest to the official record. If you only know “around noon” or “early morning”, treat your Rising sign and houses as approximate and read the planets in signs, which change much more slowly.
How to Read a Birth Chart, Step by Step
A natal chart reading is easier when you go in order. Start with the big picture, then add detail. Here is a free birth chart analysis you can follow with your own results, from your first birth chart reading to the finer details.
- Start with the Big Three. Your Sun sign is your core identity, your Moon sign is your emotional nature, and your Rising (Ascendant) sign is how you come across to others.
- Look at the other planets in signs. Mercury shows how you think and talk, Venus how you love, Mars how you act. Each sign colours the planet.
- Find the houses. The house a planet sits in shows which part of life it works through.
- Check the aspects. These are angles between planets. They show which parts of you support or challenge each other.
- Look for patterns. Many planets in one element, one house, or one part of the wheel point to a theme in your life.

Birth Chart Symbols
| Symbol | Planet | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| ☉ | Sun | Identity, vitality, life purpose |
| ☽ | Moon | Emotions, habits, security |
| ☿ | Mercury | Thinking, speaking, learning |
| ♀ | Venus | Love, values, pleasure |
| ♂ | Mars | Drive, courage, anger |
| ♃ | Jupiter | Growth, luck, belief |
| ♄ | Saturn | Discipline, limits, lessons |
| ♅ ♆ ♇ | Uranus, Neptune, Pluto | Change, imagination, transformation across a generation |
The Main Aspects
| Aspect | Angle | Usual meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Conjunction | 0° | Two planets blend and act as one |
| Sextile | 60° | Easy opportunity that needs a little effort |
| Square | 90° | Tension that pushes you to act |
| Trine | 120° | Natural flow and talent |
| Opposition | 180° | Two sides that need balance |
An aspect only counts when the planets are within a few degrees of the exact angle. That allowed gap is called the orb, and the tighter the orb, the stronger the aspect.

How Accurate Is Your Birth Chart?
The positions of the planets are astronomical facts, so a correctly entered date, time and place gives an accurate natal chart. What changes the result is the quality of the input.
| What you enter | What it affects | How sensitive it is |
|---|---|---|
| Birth date | All planet signs | Slow planets rarely change sign within a year, the Moon changes sign about every 2.5 days |
| Birth time | Rising sign, house cusps, house of each planet | Rising sign changes about every 2 hours, and the degree moves about 1° every 4 minutes |
| Birth place | Rising sign, houses, time zone | Matters most for the houses, a city 100 km away can shift the Ascendant by about a degree |
Time Zones and Daylight Saving
Old birth times need the right time zone rules for that year and place. The calculator converts your local birth time to universal time for you, so enter the clock time exactly as written on the record.
Tropical Zodiac and House Systems
This natal chart calculator uses the tropical zodiac, the standard in Western astrology, where the signs are tied to the seasons. Vedic astrology uses a different, sidereal zodiac, so those charts will not match. Astrologers also divide the chart into houses in different ways, such as Placidus, Whole Sign and Equal houses. In a whole sign birth chart, each house is exactly one sign (30°), starting with the sign of your Ascendant. The planets stay in the same signs in every system, only the house boundaries move.
Frequently Answer Questions (FAQs)
Is this birth chart calculator really free?
Yes. You can get your birth chart free as many times as you like, with no account, email address or payment.
How do I find my birth chart?
Enter your birth date, birth time and birth city in the calculator above. Your chart appears instantly. A birth chart by DOB alone, without a time, still shows your planets in signs, but you need the time for your Rising sign and houses.
What does my birth chart mean?
Your birth chart describes the energies you were born with. Each planet shows a part of you, its sign shows the style, and its house shows the area of life. It is a tool for self-understanding, not a fixed prediction of what will happen.
What if I don’t know my birth time?
Try to find it first, because it changes your Rising sign and houses. If you cannot, an estimate such as noon still gives usable planet signs. The Moon moves about 13° a day, so it may be off by several degrees. Treat the Rising sign and houses in that chart as unreliable.
Why is my chart different on another website?
The usual causes are a different birth time or city, a different house system, or a sidereal chart instead of a tropical one. The planet signs should match when the date, time and place match.
What are the Big Three in a birth chart?
The Big Three are your Sun sign, Moon sign and Rising sign. Together they give the fastest overview of your personality: who you are, what you feel, and how others see you.
Birth chart vs horoscope: what is the difference?
A horoscope usually means a general forecast by Sun sign. A birth chart uses your exact birth details, so it is personal to you.
